Husky sledding Norway

The speed that huskies pull you further on a sled will amaze you. Become as active as the local doggies and let them guide you through a snowy or summer landscape in Norway.

When?

Good news! You can arrange a husky sleigh ride all year. The most authentic is of course a ride in the snow. In the northern parts of Norway, Tromsø, you have plenty of time to do a snowy ride. Almost every year there is snow from November until late March, early April.
Yet it is also possible to crawl on a husky sled when there is no snow.  Wheels are put on the sled, so you can just get the same experience with a little more pleasant temperatures and a different landscape.

Where?

There are several tour operators in Tromsø, Norway. Most tours leave from the Radison Blu hotel or Scandic Ishavshotel in the city center. From there they take you to different locations a few miles out of the city.

Conditions?

There are no specific weather conditions for sledding with huskies. Snow, rain or sunshine: husky sledding can be done anytime!

However, it is important that you are honest with yourself about riding a husky sled.

Husky sledding is a quite intensive task, and the possibility of your sled tilting is quite possible. It is therefore not recommended for (very) young children or older people to do this active tour.

Book a tour

Booking in advance is absolutely essential. If you’re very lucky, you might get an excursion for the same day or the day before. There are only a limited number of companies that offer husky rides and because of that places often are booked for weeks in advance.

The tours cost between 1400 and 1800 NOK per person. Discounts for students and / or young people are possible.

The biggest provider of Husky sled rides is Lyngsfjord. Where you have a 45-minute ride with the huskies. With this operator you leave at 09: 00 or 17: 00. Cost is 1695 NOK per person.
You can book through this page.
