Renting a car in Sicily, is it a good idea? My personal experiences

Renting a car in Sicily is surprisingly cheap. If you want to explore the beauty of this Italian island, I really recommend to rent a car. After all, many sights aren’t easily accessible by public transport and an excursion costs a lot of money.

I was a bit nervous when I sat in my rental car the first time. But in the end, that wasn’t necessary at all!

Cost of car hire in Sicily

For my rental car in Sicily (two days) I paid barely €60 / $75 / £55 , of which €20 / $25 / £18 went to the all-in car insurance. Only €30 / $37,5 / £27,5 per day.
In addition, I booked my car only one day before my arrival. If you look at comparative websites such as RentCars you can see that renting a car in Sicily can be much cheaper.
